Updated: Sep 30, 2021

What is the 'Vampire Facial'?

Micro needling and P.R.P are two very different treatment. Micro needling is primarily used to minimize the aging signs, it works by using the find needles to prick the skin to generate new collagen. P.R.P ( platelet rich plasma) is a type of treatment which uses patient’s own platelets to stimulate new cell growth to improve complexion and skin texture.

When micro needling is combined with P.R.P, the therapy might be referred to as "vampire facial" The combination makes micro needling more effective and less downtime as platelets can speed up the wound healing and help skin tissue repair itself.

What's the procedure?

Firstly, numbing cream will be used to minimize the discomfort during the procedure. Then a practitioner will take a blood sample and then use centrifuge to separate the P.R.P from the rest of the blood particles. The micro needling treatment creates small controlled micro punctures in the skin, P.R.P solution will then penetrated patient’s skin through the microscopic channels created by micro needling.

What to expect after the treatment?

The downtime for this procedure is minimal, patient might experience minor redness and irritation, and it will go down in 2-3 days. Patient needs to avoid using skin care products that contains active ingredients such as alcohol, retinol and vitamin c. Proper sun protection is important, too.

Patient can expect to see the results in 2-4 weeks time, the skin will be rejuvenated and smoother the pores appear be smaller. Normally it required 3 or more sessions to achieve better results.
